On the third day of the spring toMAgo workshop, we will show everything that is needed to create a toMAgo picture.
Before we begin today’s gathering, listen to a few ticks of the clock that kept us company during the recording of today’s video. If you do not manage to watch this video to the end, I suggest leaving Day 3 of the toMAgo workshop for another, calmer day.
We have collected and dried many colorful petals and can hardly wait to create our own, perhaps even our first, toMAgo picture.

It is helpful to have a workspace where you can spread out the petals so they are within reach while you imagine and create your picture.

No tools, no craft! Creating a toMAgo picture does not require special tools or special materials. Still, a few things need to be prepared before starting the creation of a toMAgo picture. That is exactly what we will talk about today, on the third day of the Spring toMAgo Workshop 2020.

To create a toMAgo picture, we need:
- felt
- cardboard
- scissors
- glass
- tweezers
- a frame
- a marker for writing on glass
- glass cleaner
- a soft cloth or paper towels
The author of the toMAgo process explains what kinds of frames exist for toMAgo pictures, what forms the base of a toMAgo picture, how to choose the background color, why most toMAgo pictures at exhibitions have a black background, how the background color affects the composition, which tweezers are best for making toMAgo pictures, what is needed to close the picture, how pictures in wooden frames are sealed, why frames must be made of soft wood, why the glass must be completely clean, how to properly cover the picture with glass, and how to sign a toMAgo picture.
Tip: If you do not have a frame, the toMAgo picture can be temporarily secured with high-quality adhesive tape.
Reminder: If wooden frames made of soft wood are used for creating toMAgo pictures, you will also need:
- thumbtacks
- a coin for pressing in the thumbtacks
- kraft paper for the back (not shown in the video)
- a triangular hanger (not shown in the video)
Now that you have prepared the petals and familiarized yourself with the technical aspects of creating toMAgo pictures, you are ready to make toMAgo miniatures. The process of creating miniatures and the philosophy of the toMAgo method will be discussed on the fourth day of this spring toMAgo workshop. Until then, enjoy the beauty of flower petals and preserve them—perhaps they will become the main element of one of your toMAgo pictures!
Until we meet again on the fourth day of this workshop, warm greetings to everyone from Harmički Hill!
